This is a really loose archive of my favorite Apple videos from 2010-2011. They're all original and not re-encoded, I only changed the container from
Make sure to download them all for your archive!
It's really important that we all try and archive as many of these Apple videos as possible in the highest quality possible. Luckily if you have a Mac, it's really easy!
Go to the Wayback Machine and surf the Apple website until you find a video you want to save.
Once you've found the video, click the button to view the video, then Inspect Element the video UI that appears and find the URL in the
<video src= tag ending in either
.mp4you can usually use wget, but if its a
.mov, or the wget didn't work, you need to use QuickTime on Mac. To do this open QuickTime, click on File->Open Location, enter the URL, and click Open.
Now just wait, nothing will appear on screen while it buffers. You may need to try this a few times if nothing happens after a minute, sometimes it can take 10 tries, archive.org gets a lot of traffic! Oh... and QuickTime might crash, just keep trying! (This is definitely a legacy feature)
Once you have the video open in QuickTime, go to File->Save and select a location, ideally try to keep the same file name for archival purposes. It will download the video with a handy progress bar, and you're done!
